A Binding Sale

(T&G News Service): "I was trying to sell the only valuable thing I owned so I could start my own business", Lena Ramon told T&G, "I had this diamond necklace that was worth at least $30,000.  I had taken it to several jewelry stores and they would only give me a fraction of the price.  So I decided to sell it myself.  I had put an ad in the paper and had two people coming over to look at it.  The first was a well-dressed woman named Julie.  She seemed very interested and even used a special optical thing to look at it.  She told me that it was well worth the price.  I was very excited.

As she was talking to me, Julie took a plastic bag out of her purse.  In the bag was a damp cloth.  I asked her what it was and she simply said that it was something that would help me remain calm during the sale.  I wasn't sure what she was really up to, but my excitement turned to fear.  She apparently wanted to put that cloth over my face.  I realized that this woman wasn't going to buy my necklace, she was going to steal it.  And she knew I wouldn't just give it to her.  The logical conclusion was that the cloth would allow her to control me probably by putting me to sleep.  Would that be all or would I end up bound and gagged for hours until someone found me?  No, allowing this woman put that cloth over my face didn't seem like a good idea.  So, I pushed her and started to run"
