News Service): The woman wearing the expensive pink neck scarf is Darby,
the wife of a police detective, but today she is pretending to be a simple
homeowner wanting to sell her home. Why? Because her
husband has been trying to catch a serial robber, a woman who preys on
women home alone. Darby told her husband that she had figured
out how this woman picked her targets, but her husband told her not to get
involved and ignored her ideas. Determined to show her husband that
she was right, the would-be detective set a trap with herself as bait.
The woman in the red headscarf is Darby's quarry. One of the robber's trademarks is wearing a colorful silk headscarf when she is on a job. The robber talks her way into her victim's home, often posing as a real estate agent or sales lady. Once she has the confidence of her victim, she pulls a gun, binds, gags and robs her. The woman, who called herself Miss Judy Smith, introduced herself explaining that she would be honored to be her real estate agent. Darby carefully watched her quarry and when she went to her purse to get 'business cards', Darby reached for the gun she had hidden in the sofa. Fortunately for Darby, she was faster than Miss Smith. Miss Smith quickly put up her hands. Darby pulled out a pair of her husband's handcuffs...the pair of cuffs that had encircled her wrists many times when her husband made love to her. |
